Summer Playlist

I tried to have this ready to release on the day of the summer solstice.  Only 2 days late!  The playlist is good to either shuffle or listen top to bottom.  Soon I will have all the audio files available to download via dropbox.  Hold on tight!

“Up Up Up” kicks off the playlist because it reminds me of a specific moment last summer:  2 in the afternoon at Lollapalooza, perfect weather, good sized crowd, beach balls in the air, and Givers absolutely killed it from the first note they played.  I don’t normally dance to music, but I couldn’t stop when they played!  The next 5 songs echo that sort of energy.  “Afraid of Summer” takes things in a more sentimental direction for the next few songs.  “Green Garden” begins a group of 6 songs that have more influence from funk, jazz, R&B, and electronic dance music.  “Such Great Heights” provide a great transition into the next batch of more alternative/punk songs.  It was originally an electronically influenced song, but in the hands of Streetlight Manifesto it becomes an incredible ska anthem.  “Swing Lo Magellan” softens things up into a folk/country/bluegrass direction.  After the incredible climax of “The Ocean”, the playlist ends gracefully with an afterthought at the camp fire:  “Blue Spotted Tail”
